My Vintage Glams Palette by Lauren Luke | Review

Hey everyone :)

A few weeks ago while wandering around the beauty section in TK Maxx (which has now become my home) I came across a few palettes by Lauren Luke. I'd never heard of them before but they looked really great quality so I chucked this one in the basket. When I got to the counter I realised it was reduced from £25 to £7.99 - WIN!

In the My Vintage Glams palette there are two eyeshadow bases, three eyeshadows, a blush, a cream eyeliner, and two lip colours/glosses. Now that's amazing for £25, let alone £7.99.
I will apologise in advance for some messiness, I've had this palette for nearly a month and have been using it literally everyday.

I really love these eyeshadow bases - they are included in every one of her palettes - as they are really creamy, easy to apply and create a perfect base for eye shadow. They can even be used on their own to just even out your eyelids or sometimes I use the lighter colour on my brow bone as a highlight. If this product was sold separately I would definitely buy it.

This eyeshadow in Petticoat Pink is the perfect champagne, shimmery shade for just sweeping over the lid. It's very shimmery and really brightens up the whole eye area. I also really like it's consistency - it's got a very satin-y finish and is very blendable and pigmented.

This blush is quite confusing. I'm still not sure if it's cream or powder - how stupid does that sound? :)
What I mean is that, when you swatch it it feels like a powder, but when you blend it into your cheeks it feels like a cream. Maybe it's a crossover between the two, but I really do like it. I love wearing berry tones on my cheeks as it's really flattering on my fair skin. This has pretty good lasting power, but does tend to fade towards the end of the day so needs a bit of touching up here and there.

As you can see from the picture I've been using this quite frequently but, if I'm honest, it's probably my least favourite part of the palette. It's okay for smudging into the lash line for some definition but definitely does not work like a gel liner. I tried using this for winged liner and it was a big disaster, it smudged everywhere and faded after half an hour. Not good.
I think the 'cream' consistency just isn't the best for an eyeliner, but I've been using it because  I'm away at the moment and it's just convenient.

These two eyeshadows are absolutely gorgeous - well pigmented, shimmery and blend like nothing else. Silver Slippers is a high-shimmer silver that I use in the inner corners during the day, and Red Wine is a beautiful shimmery purple with some pink-y shimmer running through it that's great for evening looks.
That's another thing I love about this pallete, it's got everything you need for both day and night. I think the only thing that's missing is a staple brown shadow.

Last in the palette are these two lip colours/glosses called Champagne Kiss and Love Bite. It's hard to put a label on them because they have the consistency of a gloss but are quite pigmented. They are slightly on the sticky side but I don't mind that in a gloss.
The first colour is a shimmery champagne/nude colour that doesn't suit me that well. I think it's a nice colour but I'm just too pale to wear it without looking ill. The second is definitely my favourite - it's a deep red/berry colour that has a little shimmer in it but not too over the top. As you probably know by now, I love my berry colours and this is great for when you don't have much time and just want to slap something on.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Overall, I really like this palette. It has everything you need in one place and is great for both day and night looks. The products are pretty good quality - some better than others - and the price is great for what you get.
The only thing I don't like about it is the packaging. It feels quite cheap and flimsy and tends to get quite messy with all the product fall out. But, I do like the little sticker on the mirror that says, "I just want you to feel special, Lauren x". I think that's a nice little touch :)
I hope you enjoyed this post! Please follow this blog for more and say hi in the comments.
