Autumn 2012 - Key Pieces

Autumn is here! It's time to put away those shorts and sandals and dig out some knits and boots.
But that doesn't mean that your summer staples can't be carried through to the next season. I've chosen some  pieces from the high street that are perfect for Autumn and can also be carried from season to season. I hope this helps! :)
I've been wearing my H&M denim shirt all summer, but that doesn't mean it can't work for Autumn too. Denim shirts are great for making an outfit more casual and for when it gets a bit chilly outside but not chilly enough for a coat. They're the perfect medium.
A way to make your denim shirt more suitable for Autumn is to add some DIY detailing. I added some leather material to the pockets of my shirt to give it a more grunge-y feel, fitting in with one of this season's trend. But if DIY-ing your shirt is a bit out of your comfort zone, this Denim/Chiffon shirt from Topshop is perfect at £38.

Next is the top I'm actually wearing right now.. how creepy! :)
Anyway, Dip Dye hairstyles have been huge over the summer and now the trend is starting to creep into fashion too. I love this dip dyed crop top from H&M and I've been wearing it practically everyday. I normally wear it with jeans or a denim shirt and leggings, but you can also wear it with a cute skirt and boots for Autumn.
Not only do I love the style and colour of the top, I love the price tag aswell! H&M is an amazing shop with great value products and at only £12.99, this  top was a bargain.

Boots are essential for a British Autumn and Winter and these high heeled ankle boots from Topshop are amazing! These are definitely going on my wishlist :)
I love the suede and leather detailing and I think the heels are just the right height. I think heeled boots go really well with printed skinny jeans and also some wooly tights for when it gets a bit cooler.
They are a bit pricey at £68, but I think for the quality and versatility I think I may be burning a hole in my purse some time soon ;)
(They also do these boots in black and tan colours)

I live in leather jackets during Autumn and this year I really wanted to find something different. So when I found this gorgeous tan jacket from H&M I kind of died and went to heaven.
It has an amazingly low price of £29.99 (I think it's worth waaay more) and I love the detailing. I'm not usually drawn to tan colours but I immediately loved this and I thought it would go really well with jeans. So grab it while the price is still low! They also sell this jacket in blue and black if you're not so keen on tan :)

Coloured jeans were a HUGE trend in the Summer and as we move into Autumn the light blues and pinks have turned into deep burgundy's and dark greens. I luckily bought some burgundy jeans earlier this year in March but if you don't have any yet - grab some! They're set to be a popular trend this year and will look amazing with a cute knit or leather jacket. These Topshop jeans are a great buy if you're struggling to find some :) (£40)

One of my favourite things about Autumn are the the big chunky knits and cardigans. I'm especially loving long length cardigans and shrugs to wear with jeans and boots.
This aztec print shrug from New Look is great for that casual daytime look and is pretty inexpensive at £24.99.

Another great jumper for this season is the ombre knit jumper also from New Look (featured right).
This jumper is ridiculously cute and also ties in with with the dip dye trend. It is a bit more expensive at £29.99 but I think it's worth it.

Here are some other pieces to tie your outfits together :)

Burgundy Handbag, H&M
